Lucas Wayne Lakey

Mr. Lucas Wayne Lakey of Lufkin, Texas, passed away Saturday, April 20, 2024, at University Medical Center in New Orleans, Louisiana, at the age of 21 years, 4 months, 27 days.

Lucas was born November 24, 2002, in Lufkin, Texas, and had been a longtime resident of the Broaddus and Lufkin areas. He graduated from Broaddus High School, where he enjoyed playing basketball. Lucas was a pile driver, working in construction.

He had a great passion for music, especially playing the guitar and singing. In addition to music, he was also passionate about the outdoors and activities, especially fishing and squirrel hunting. Lucas had a love for playing video games and also enjoyed thrift shopping.

His survivors include his soul mate and life partner, Mattie Truitt of Lufkin, Texas; his mom and step-father, Kristel and Nicholas Johns of Huntington, Texas; dad, Scott Floyd of Broaddus, Texas; father, Jacky Lakey of Broaddus, Texas; siblings, Jera Brittain and husband T.J. of Hemphill, Texas, Lee Floyd of Huntington, Texas, Karter Floyd of Broaddus, Texas, Mason Johns of Huntington, Texas, and Wyatt Johns of Huntington, Texas; grandparents, Margaret Wagstaff of Broaddus, Texas, and Jimmy Bryan Sr. of San Augustine, Texas; and host of aunts, uncles, and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Weldon Wagstaff and Frances Bryan; uncles, Jay Wagstaff and Robert Lakey; and an aunt, Kathy McClelland.

Visitation will be held from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. Friday, April 26, 2024, at Wyman Roberts Funeral Home, located at 316 W. Columbia Street in San Augustine, Texas.

A Celebratio of Life funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, April 27, 2024, at Wyman Roberts Memorial Chapel. A private family committal service will be held at Wagstaff Cemetery near Broaddus, Texas.

Pallbearers: Brayden Dollison, Kobe Sanders, Travis Brookshire, C.J. Emerson, Kingston Sanders, and Pierce Skrehot. Honorary pallbearers: Dave Hebert, Alec Mixon, and Tavi Evans.
